The Vermillion Housing Authority administers the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program throughout Clay County, South Dakota.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program assists eligible low-income households with rental costs in privately owned housing. Participants generally pay a portion of their income toward rent, with the Housing Authority providing rental assistance directly to the property owner.

Applications for the Housing Choice Voucher Program are completed online through the Vermillion Housing Authority’s applicant portal. Before beginning your application, please have information available for all members of your household.

Submitting an application does not guarantee immediate assistance. Eligible applicants are placed on the waiting list and will be contacted by the Vermillion Housing Authority when they are selected for further processing.
